Detective Collins

In the twelve years I been on the force Miami hasn’t been this hot. In fact Miami hadn’t been this hot since Griselda Blanco was on the scene. Rumor had it there was some new dude on the scene flooding the streets with the purest coke the city has seen in a while. We couldn’t get a name and definitely didn’t have a face. After surveying areas where the product was being distributed the most; we narrowed it down to a few dudes who could have possibly be down with this new dude. My partner Howard and I figured if we kept up the tail on them we would soon get a name or face of the new cat.

Today was turning out to be the same as the days previously. There was a lot of incoming and outgoing traffic. We could have made a bust easily but we were after the big fish. No sense in popping a bunch of street level thugs when they would only be replaced.

“Aye Collins…” Howard said taking me away from watching the trap house that was a few houses down.

“I say we snatch one of these dudes up, one of em bound to roll.” Howard advised.

Sounded like a solid plan we just had to wait until we could pop one. As if on cue, we watched a dude run from the house gripping something in his hand.

“That’s the one!” I said nudging Howard.

We watched the young boy stand on the curb as a Chevy Impala pulled up. Simultaneously Howard and I hopped out the car with our guns drawn. We were spotted by the people in the impala causing them to pull off automatically. For some reason, the young boy didn’t even attempt to run; he threw his hands in the air and surrendered. I expect him to run but after examining him closely I knew he was new to the shit he was involved in and was clearly scared. I kept the gun trained on him while Howard patted him down. After prying his hand open he retrieved five small baggies of cocaine.

“Look what we have here.” Howard said dangling one of the baggies in front of the young dudes face.

“You’re taking a ride with us.” I said, lowering my gun while Howard cuffed him.

We ushered him back to our car and tosses him in the back seat, before getting in. Once inside the car I started up the engine and drove off.

“What’s your name?” Howard asked him.

The young dude just sucked his teeth.

“Son, you know how much time you looking at for these drugs? More years than you have been on this earth.” I said exaggerating.

The mention of a sentence shook him to his core. The young boy’s leg started trembling and he began to perspire.

“You help us, we help you.” Howard added trying to soften him up.

“We can start with the easy question. Who are you working for?” I asked.

“His name is Ty.”

“That’s a start. Tell us more,” I added

“He from New York, I never seen him.
